Open water swimmers constantly face the unknown that lies beyond the safety of sandy coasts: rough waves, unpredictable weather, and creatures lurking in the deep. Out in the beyond, one accomplished and determined swimmer hopes to become the first woman to swim 30 miles through shark-infested waters in the frigid waves off the coast of San Francisco.
