On Thursday, February 13, join Newport Beach Film Festival and Orange County Museum of Art for a free Cinema Orange screening of the documentary EARTH at OCMAEXPAND, located in South Coast Plaza Village in Santa Ana. Several billion tons of earth are moved annually by humans – with shovels, excavators or dynamite. Nikolaus Geyrhalter observes people, in mines, quarries and at large construction sites, engaged in a constant struggle to take possession of the planet.
Shot over three continents, this documentary illustrates the global plastic pollution crisis: fields of garbage, mountains of trash; rivers and seas clogged with waste; and skies choked with the poisonous runoff from plastic production and recycling processes. Original animations, interviews with experts and activists, and never-before-filmed scenes reveal the disastrous consequences of the flood of plastic smothering ecosystems and poisoning communities around the world—and the global movement rising up in response.
